E-SUCH
In the year 2000, an organization aimed at supporting and advocating the
rights of the Filipino children was founded in Baliuag, Bulacan. It was
named Earnest Support for Underprivileged Children Charity Association,
Inc. or E-SUCH, with Arvin Darcen as its Founder.
It envisions itself as an organized group of concerned individuals whose
vow is to offer their heartfelt service to the underprivileged children
of the community.
It aims to see its community composed of God-fearing, productive, and
happy young people, who are concerned with others and with the
environment.
The mission of the organization is to create programs and projects for
the next ten years that give support and opportunities for the
underprivileged children to discover and develop their talents and skills
which will aid them in their contribution for the improvement of their
society. The group also works to develop the youth into concerned
individuals who will also help in the protection of other underprivileged
children in the community.
E-SUCH offers formal and non-formal learning opportunities that allow
underprivileged children to discover and develop their skills to help
them grow to become responsible individuals, promotes the rights of the
Filipino children to the people in the community, especially to the young
citizens, and seeks support that will help its volunteers in providing
the necessities of the needy children, including food, clothing, and
school materials.
Having registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission in September
11, 2001, it was granted the Sec Reg. No. A200113750. It also has an
official newsletter called KABATA.
Since E-SUCH’s first year, it has been doing its CARE Program, wherein
the underprivileged children benefit from Computer tutorials, Art
workshops and exhibits, Reading program and Education fieldtrips.
Other projects for the community include the Children’s Convention on the
Rights of the Children, the Lapis at Papel Project wherein the
organization distribute school supplies to selected children, scholarship
grants for selected needy children, Book Donation Projects for the
Children Resource Centers in the different barangays, Gift-Giving
Projects and Pasko-Paslit Project, quarterly feeding programs for
malnourished children, and Anti-Child Trafficking Campaigns. E-SUCH has
also established its chapter in the town of Bustos in the last quarter of
2007 and has already been doing similar projects in its barangays.
Because of these, E-SUCH proves that it is really concerned in providing
an enjoyable environment for the children in the community and is
committed in providing them with the services that they need for their
development.
MGA BATANG PINTOR NG E-SUCH
In the field of arts, the age of and experience are bases of how skilled
an artist is. This has been proven otherwise by the group “Mga Batang
Pintor ng E-SUCH” for a lot of times.
From the Humblest of All Beginnings
The group is composed of young artists from the town of Baliuag, Bulacan.
Through the help of Earnest Support for Underprivileged Children Charity
Association Inc. (E-SUCH), each member of the group discovered their
potentials in the field of arts. Their talents are developed through
series of art workshops with the help of its volunteers.
“Mga Batang Pintor” started with 18 members, who were bound by a common
goal: to come up with an art exhibit of their artworks.
During those times, the young painters were using pieces of carton for
their paintings.
Their goal came into realization when they were lent a small room in the
Ka Willie - Wiling Youth Center in Baliuag. Their very first art exhibit
called “Likhang Kamay,” was held on May 19, 2003. This particular date
serves as a milestone for the members of the group.
Two months after the first exhibit, another one immediately followed,
which was aptly entitled “Likhang Kamay 2,” held at the Baliuag Museum.
From Cartons to Canvases
The dream of the young artists did not stop there. They were given great
opportunities to feature their immense artistry, including the “Guhit Ko,
Buhay Ko: E-SUCH Children’s Art Exhibit for a Cause” on October 2003 in
Forest Grill Restaurant in Makati City.
This was the first chance for the young artists to show their artworks
outside their hometown.
Proceeds were used to fund the continuing programs of E-SUCH.
More Than What They Expected
On January 2004, the group of young artists joined the Sto. Niño Festival
Exhibit in the Baliuag Museum. The spiritual side of the artists was
shown. After two months, on the 20th of March, one of the group’s biggest
dreams was fulfilled when they were permitted to exhibit in the Museo
Pambata in Manila. The exhibit was named “Guhit Ko, Buhay Ko: The Baliuag
Experience,” wherein they brought to Manila their hometown Baliuag in
canvases and colors.
Since 2004, the group holds “Golgota” art exhibition at the Baliuag
Museum every Lenten Season to commemorate the passion of Jesus Christ
vis-a-vis Baliuag’s infamous prusisyon.
Mga Batang Pintor and NCCA
On April 16, 2006, Easter Sunday, “Mga Batang Pintor” had their first
major television appearance in NBN-4’s “Sining Gising: NCCA Ugnayan sa
Tinig ng Bayan.” There they met the people behind the National Commission
for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) headed by its Executive Director Cecile
Guidote - Alvarez.
In 2008, the partnership between E-SUCH group of Batang Pintor and NCCA
grew stronger. The young artists were invited in the same show for two
consecutive weeks on February as part of the celebration of the National
Arts Month. Stepping higher on the notch of artistic recognition, they
were asked to participate in the mural-painting for the 22nd EDSA People
Power Anniversary.
Never Tires, Never Ceases
The feathers of their cap add up when they showcased their creative
prowess in Malolos City for the Bata, Lipunan, Korupsiyon (BALIKO)
Exhibition, at 2007 Backdoor Venture’s Arts and Music Festival in SM
Megammall, in Paseo de San Jose - Baliuag, Chowking Pioneer in
Mandaluyong, Forest Grill and Café in Quezon City, and for the Philippine
– Vietnam Cultural Exchange Program in Bustos, Bulacan.
Today, more than 300 children have benefited from E-SUCH’s art workshops.
Fifty of these kids are active participants of the art exhibits.
